The Cuban Is a Cinematic Ode to Afro-Cuban Musical History

The film, which tells the moving story of an elderly Cuban musician who has dementia and Alzheimer’s, acts as a love letter to the diverse cultures and generations of people that make up our communities. Shot in Havana, Cuba, and Canada, it is infused with a lively Afro-Cuban jazz score composed by Grammy-nominated Cuban-Canadian pianist Hilario Duran.
