May 17th-23rd marks the 46th annual National Emergency Medical Services Week, and now is a more crucial time than ever before to recognize the healthcare workers who put themselves fearlessly in harm’s way to help halt the coronavirus outbreak.
The theme for this year’s EMS week is, “Ready today. Prepare for Tomorrow.” Each day highlights a different role that EMS performs.
-Monday is EMS Education Day.
-Tuesday is for practicing safety.
-Wednesday is EMS for Children Day.
-Thursday is Save-A-Life, or CPR & Stop the Bleed.
-Friday is EMS Recognition Day.
With cases of COVID-19 disproportionately affecting Black and Latino communities, EMS workers have been fighting nonstop on the frontline to help our gente. As such, LATV Network, along with LA-based atelier, Dirty But Delicate, have donated over 100 masks to support our community’s most vulnerable children who do not have access to properly fitting masks.
Remember, the easiest way you can support our medical workers during this difficult time is by staying home and social distancing. Be sure to visit naemt.org for information on even more ways to give back.
