On July 8th, Glee star Naya Rivera rented a boat in Southern California and set out on Lake Piru with her 4-year old son. After the 4pm boat return time was missed, a rental employee went to see what was going on. He found the boat on the north end of the lake with Rivera’s son on board, but without any sign of Naya…
Apparently, the actress and her son went swimming and she never got back on the boat. Her son was found with a life vest on with another adult life vest next to him in the boat. On Thursday July 9th, Ventura County Sheriff Deputy Chris Dyer reported that search and rescue efforts for the actress have now shifted to a recovery operation.
“We’re presuming that an accident happened and we’re presuming she drowned in the lake,” said Dyer.
Lake Piru is currently closed as there is a search operation of more than 80 people taking place. This story is still developing, and we will keep you up to date as we find out more.
We are sending prayers to the Rivera family during this time.
