McDonald’s has a long-standing commitment to education, supporting Hispanic students in pursuit of their college dreams – and this year they have taken a number of steps to do even more!
Through their HACER® National Scholarship, McDonald’s has provided scholarship winners with some of the technology needed to succeed in a virtual learning environment, announced an increase in scholarship funds to $1 million in order to help 100 additional students alleviate the cost of higher education during the upcoming academic year, and taken its annual HACER® Education Tour virtual to provide workshops and resources to even more students, parents and educators across the country.
As an additional step to provide students with more valuable information, McDonald’s and LATV are hosting a virtual panel on Friday, October 30th, 2020, highlighting two Hispanic professionals thriving in STEM careers who will share their professional experiences and answer questions from aspiring college students featured in a virtual audience.
The panel will also feature two past HACER® National Scholarship recipients in exciting STEM careers: Mechanical engineer Brigitte Morales, a 2008 HACER® recipient, and Julio Ornelas, who continues working toward his majors in immunology and pathogenesis after the HACER® scholarship helped him ease the financial burden of college in 2018.
The conversation will be moderated by Anakaren López, LATV’s very own co-host of “The Zoo,” live from our social-distance-safe McDonald’s stage.
