It’s not the first time a celebrity is running a political campaign; after all, we can’t forget Arnold Schwarzenegger – and just look at the mess we have in the White House thanks to the reality star who has been running it…so it wouldn’t be a total surprise if Oscar winner actor, Matthew McConaughey, confirmed the rumors about running for Governor in Texas.
The actor appeared on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on Wednesday night, and when asked about the ongoing rumor, he replied: “I have no plans to do that right now.” However, he doesn’t rule it out in the future.
I’m a bit skeptical when it comes to celebrities in politics, but I’d give Matthew a try. In an interview with Yahoo Finance, he raised questions about whether U.S. culture focuses too much on the race to gain wealth and notoriety.
“America tells our children and ourselves that to be successful is money and fame,” McConaughey says. “We need to not necessarily have those always at the top.”
