HUMAN(X) Charity Brings Aid to Those Who Need it Most

Latinx artists are joining forces to create a worldwide movement and lead the way in the music industry to help those suffering from the COVID-19 crisis.

HUMAN(X), a multimedia charity initiative, was born with the purpose of curating and sending messages of humanity to generate revenue to support causes that take care of those in need. Latinos are among the groups that are suffering the most from the coronavirus pandemic

An idea that started from a small piece of acapella became the song “Pa’ La Cultura,” which features artists from many countries in Latin America, Spain, and even French DJ David Guetta.

“Pa’ La Cultura” represents the HUMAN(X) dream, artists from all different backgrounds moving in the same direction for something bigger than ourselves,” said Guetta in a press conference on Friday.

“Music has always been a source of healing and bringing happiness and joy into people’s lives.. it also is a source of provocation and can motivate and inspire people to do great things and has been behind the most powerful movements in the world!” – Tommy Motola.

Critically acclaimed music producer Tommy Motola, his wife Thalía, Sofía Reyes, Manuel Turizo, De La Ghetto, Abraham Mateo, Zion & Lennox, Lalo Ebratt and Maejor, are among the artists at the forefront of the project, led by Lex Borrero, Co-Founder, and CEO, Miami artist incubator NEON16, who co-founded HUMAN(X) along with Latin GRAMMY-winning producer Marco “Tainy” Masis.

“Music is a medium that transcends languages and borders, our plan is to use our platforms to advocate for important causes that deserve global attention and monetary funds,” says Borrero.

“Pa’ la Cultura,” which gives us a very Latinx 2020 vibe version of “We Are the World,” is now available on every music streaming platform. As for the video, we’ll have to wait and see what all artists will come up with while still being quarantined at home, but it should be coming out soon.

“I take care of you, you take care of me. We are taking care of each other. It applies to everything!.” – Thalía

What prompted Guetta to take part was not only the mashup of artists from different backgrounds but the philanthropic aspect of HUMAN(X). “We can’t just think as one nation, we have to think as the world, it’s a movement of companionship. I like the idea, and the concept is very strong. I’m here to support and show my love to this project,” said the DJ whose “only ties to the Latinx culture is his Cuban girlfriend.”

The catchy ritmo latino of “Pa’ La Cultura” will have you dancing in your living room and having it on repeat. The project shows the Latinx artist’s heart, soul and a passion that their fans might not be used to seeing them show much in public.

“Es una sensación de incertidumbre, pero una adrenalina muy bonita. El mensaje que queremos llevar con esta canción es mucho más grande.” – Manuel Turizo

Where will the proceeds go?

“All proceeds will be going to NDLON (National Day Laborer Organizing Network) to help immigrants impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic through NDLON’s Immigrant Worker Rights Safety Net Fund;  as well their ART/WORKS fellowship program which lifts the voices, cultural expression, and profile of immigrants, refugees, and artists advancing migrant rights,” per the campaign’s press release.
