It’s no surprise that Gina Brillon is on the verge of blowing up. This Bronx-born Puerto Rican comic’s take on family, work and relationships is smart, perceptive and hits home with comedy club audiences and on shows like Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Gina’s presence is both comfortable and comforting. Thankfully, as she’s made her way through the comedy club system, she’s also made a few important friends. Gabriel Iglesias has included her in projects such as his Stand-Up Revolution and produced her debut, Pacifically Speaking. And though her Kevin James backed CBS sitcom didn’t get picked up, it’s only a matter of time before either her comedy or some scripted project breaks her to a wider audience.
She has made appearances on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, E!’s Chelsea Lately, AXS’ Gotham Comedy Live, The View, Late Night with Seth Meyers and Jimmy Kimmel Live! Brillon also has been seen on Kevin Can Wait on CBS and The Conners on ABC. In 2012, she became the first (and only) Latina winner of NBC’s Stand up for Diversity Showcase. She was selected to be part of Montreal’s Just For Laughs New Faces Showcase.
Her most recent half-hour special, Easily Offended (2019), was one of the top shows among the Entre Nos franchise on HBO Latino, and is now streaming on all HBO digital platforms. But now, Gina blazes her way to the top with her new one hour Amazon Prime comedy special, Gina Brillon: The Floor is Lava.
In her new special, which was released earlier this month, Gina pulls no punches when discussing her childhood, culture, and the transition from single to married life with her Midwestern husband. In the hour-long special, Gina effortlessly guides the audience on a journey of love, laughter and heart.
