The cast of Selena: The Series, now streaming on Netflix, is ready to take over your screen as you binge-watch the long-awaited story of one of the greatest Latina artists of all time. And the series has hit #1 on Netflix on the same week that Bad Bunny hit #1 on the billboard charts.
So in case you get curious about who is who in the series, we got you! Meet the full cast below:
Christian Serratos is Selena quintanilla
Before Selena: The Series, the American actress of Mexican descent was best known for her role in Nickelodeon’s teen series Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide (2004). She was Suzie Crabgrass.
We’re loving every one of the characters, especially ‘Little Selena,’ played by Madison Taylor Baez.
A.B. Quintanilla, Selena’s brother, is played by Gabriel Chavarría
Gabriel is known for playing Jacob Aguilar in Hulu’s East Los High and was the lead during Season One of USA Network’s The Purge. In real life, A.B. Quintanilla is the author and co-author of the hits that immortalized Selena and some of the iconic songs of la Reina del Tex-Mex.
Abraham Quintanilla (The father) is played by Ricardo Chavira
Ricardo Chavira is a Mexican-American actor who played Carlos Solis in Desperate Housewives. In the series and in real life, Abraham Quintanilla was the one who encouraged his other children to form Selena y Los Dinos.
Naomi Gonzalez plays Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla
Before jumping onto the Netflix role of a lifetime, Naomi was Soli Gomez in the Hulu series East Los High. She was also Mia Rosales on the CBS Daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless from 2018-2019.
La mamá, Marcella Quintanilla is played by Seidy Lopez
Seidy has a long trajectory in Latino films. She was Mousie in Mi Vida Loca – how can we forget – AND she also had a role in Selena: The Movie (1997) among other TV and film roles.
In real life, Marcella Quintanilla (or Marcella Samora), Selena Quintanilla’s mom, was born on July 17, 1944 in Texas. Her dad was of Mexican descent and her mom was American with Cherokee roots.
Actor/Director Hunter Reese Pena plays Ricky Vela in the series.
In real life, Ricky Vela is a composer and keyboardist known for placing several of his songs on the Billboard charts thanks to Selena and Los Dinos.
Julio Macías plays Pete Astudillo
If you saw the hit Netflix series On My Block, you may remember him as Oscar. He’s also been in TV series’ such as Jane the Virgin and Game Shakers.
In real life, Pete Astudillo is the co-author of one of Selena Quintanilla’s greatest hits: “Como La Flor,” which he composed with AB Quintanilla. Some of his other credited co-authorship on Selena’s songs include “Amor Prohibido,” “La Carcacha” and “Qué Creías.”
