French-Chilean musician Ana Tijoux has released what is quickly becoming the anthem to the protests in Chile. The song is called “#CACEROLAZO” and was released on Ana’s Instagram, quickly gaining a million+ views.
Sparked by proposed hikes in cost of public transportation, the protests in Chile have boiled over into a full blown movement rooted in outrage over inequality. President Sebastian Piñera even declared that “We are at war.” The song, on the other hand, calls for his resignation. “#CACEROLAZO” references the tradition of banging cazerolas together in protest usually addressing corruption and inequality.
